YOUTH GROUPS
By providing social, engaging opportunities for our youth, our goal is to foster community and a love of Judaism. We have a youth lounge where our teens can relax, “hang out,” and watch movies, and more. Our gymnasium has been the site of many basketball games, carnivals, and special events, and is available for our youth. Some of our creative programs include, barbeques, cooking (with chocolate as the primary ingredient), dances, scavenger hunts, trips to fun activity centers, community service, and more. As our youth move through the progression of our three youth groups, they take on more and more leadership roles, which can undoubtedly help them develop more and more helpful life skills.
Shorashim (Roots)
Fourth and Fifth graders meet quarterly for fun activities under the guidance of our Youth Director. It is in this “club” where we begin to plant the seeds that lead to involvement in Kadima and USY.
Kadima (Forward)
This group is for teens in grades six, seven and eight. It provides a wide-range of activities both locally and regionally that include dances, retreats, and numerous other opportunities that encourage socializing.
USY (United Synagogue Youth)
High school students in grades nine through twelve meet periodically in their chapter (local) or join the regional events. Here the students organize themselves in a leadership board and under the guidance of the Youth Director truly experience what it is like to create and participate in meaningful programs.
