Contributions - Tzedakah


Making donations to Congregation Gesher Shalom’s congregational funds is a mitzvah. It’s easy to do and is a wonderful way to celebrate a family milestone, honor joyous occasions, recognize deserving individuals and remember your loved ones. You can make contributions for any amount to any of the following funds. A minimum donation of $18 is required to have an acknowledgement card sent.

General Operating Fund

Contributions to this fund are used where the need is greatest, as determined by our Board of Trustees.

Book Fund

Donations to the book fund enable us to maintain, repair and replenish our Siddurim, special/holiday service books, and other printed materials used for spiritual, educational and general enrichment purposes.

Youth Fund

Contributions support educational and social youth programming. (Kadima, USY). The Youth Fund basically continues to add funds throughout the year to the Youth Appeal made during Rosh Hashanah.

Selma Meltzer Lecture Fund

Funds support adult education programs, including the Scholar in Residence.

Hebrew School

Contributions help offset the cost of running our Hebrew school and provide money for enrichment programs such as class trips and family education opportunities.

Jr. Congregation Kiddush

Funds are used to provide a special children’s Kiddush with child-friendly foods.

Kiddush Fund

Enables our synagogue to provide a Kiddush every Shabbat throughout the year. Families may contribute to this fund in honor of a birthday or anniversary.

Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund

Discretionary funds are intended for programs that generally benefit the congregation, but not for normal operating expenses or personal use. It is a confidential account run by the Rabbi.

Tree of Life

Select your own wording for a leaf on the Tree of Life in the synagogue lobby ($180.00 per leaf).

Memorial Plaque

In memory of a loved one, you may purchase a plaque on one of the Yahrzheit boards in the synagogue lobby ($400.00 per plaque/members $500.00/non- members).
